Lyra Heartstrings (with background) by EgonDaLatz  Lyra Heartstrings - Draft by EgonDaLatz  The EgonDaLatz Style: How I Do My Pencil Drawings
How to Make a Picture Like This One?
If you got here by clicking on the link conveniently placed in the picture description, then let me explain why the making of one single picture usually takes me a week or more. Let's just say that I'm a maximalist and I want my drawings to be perfect. They are very precious to me, y'know.
To make things clear, I present my working methods on my pony pictures. Believe it or not, I create 2-4 scraps/drafts before I start making the final picture - therefore, I can show you every single step.
(Note that I use this method not only to create pony pictures, but other drawings too.)
So, here are the steps of drawing a picture in EgonDaLatz style:
1) Conceptualization
I know it sounds ridiculous, but do you know how frustrating a f*cked-up picture can be? Let alone a picture wrongly planned and carried out? No thanks, I'd rather avoid this scenario. So, in Dashie's c

"Good morning class! Today is the final installment of how to do the same picture three times, yet make them different at the same time. So let me present: Lyra Heartstrings!"

Pretty much what the fictional Mrs. IhatekidsyetIamstillhere says. And I'm not gonna lie here, this one is an almost exact copy of Quanno3's picture - with some "minor" modifications. So, if you read this, you were my teacher. Feed me with your endless wisdom, Master! Wink/Razz

Note: her real-life eyes and color schemes are identical to Lyra's, but scanner, scanner, scanner, why U no work properly? Actually, you might notice that her eyes and cutie mark have a paler yellow color. I did that on purpose: I tested (=scanned) a sketch with the "normal" color scheme, and it looked awful. Yet, I don't think this makes a lot of difference, right? If it does, we're sorry. Sooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy... :| (Blank Stare)
UPDATE: 1) I'm an idiot, because my Seapony Lyra picture works perfectly with Lyra's color scheme, I should've just used darker tones 2) I created a new version without background in order to make Lyra more visible - as I also did in the case of the Fluffle Puff picture. ()he unaltered version can be found in my Scraps gallery.)
UPDATE (October 19, 2015): I rescanned the picture. I hope you like the result.

And now for sometihng completely different: Credits!
